The history of L'Agona
Among the panoramic and enchanting views of the Pisan hills, in the ancient hamlet of Terricciola, a typical Tuscan country village, rich in history and traditions, in a land that expresses an unrivalled oenological vocation, the winery L’Agona can be found.
L’Agona stems from a family project that allowed us to come together through a shared passion: the world of wine. The very name of the company conveys this strong bond, as each letter corresponds to the initials of our names. Bringing L’Agona to life from scratch has been a real adventure. We are not vine growers with a long tradition, but a passionate family that, step by step, has realized their own dream.
The production
Our winery is located in Terricciola, in the province of Pisa. We are surrounded by the greenery of our hills, nestled among panoramic roads winding through olive groves and vineyards, and passing through small villages. Centuries ago, this area was bathed by the sea, and the signs of this past are still present in our land.
The clayey and sandy terroir, rich in fossils, retains traces of a time when shells and other marine creatures inhabited our hills. These characteristics lend complexity and aromatic elegance to L’Agona wines on the nose, and sapidity and depth on the palate.

Curiosities
- The name Agona derives from the initials of the Puccinelli family: Andrea, Giorgia, Olivia, Nicoletta and Alice.
- The wine labels reflect the character attributed to each member of the family and are inspired by "The alienated" series of portraits painted by Jean-Louis André Théodore Géricault, a romantic painter from France.
Nearby places to visit
- Terricciola: An ancient village of Etruscan origin, as proven by the discovery of settlements in the hamlets of Morrona and Soiana, where there are necropolises dating back to the Hellenistic period with underground chamber tombs. The Belvedere Hypogeum is of particular interest.
- Peccioli: this village is one of the most beautiful in Italy and has plenty of attractions, such as the Bell Tower of Pieve di San Verano, the Museum of Russian Icons and the Archaeological Museum.
