The history of Chiappini
The Giovanni Chiappini farm is located in the heart of the Bolgheri doc, in the Bolgheri street, wine route that hosts the largest wineries in the area. The story is that of a family tradition never dormant and always renewed, which from the head of the family, Giovanni, son of farmers from the Marche who immigrated to Bolgheri in the 1950s, was inherited by his two daughters Martina and Lisa who work alongside their father in the company. The hallmark of the Chiappini's work and growth can be found in the privileged relationship that they hold with the earth. A mother earth interpreted and modified in symbiosis with the peasant labor force. An association still alive and never taken for granted. Over time, the company has become known and appreciated throughout the world thanks above all to the awards of very important trade magazines such as Wine Enthusiast who consecrated the company's main wine in 2013 Guado de ’Gemoli 2009, in first place in the world rankings with a score of 100/100.
The production
The main grape varieties according to Bolgheri tradition are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, a small part of Sangiovese and Vermentino. Since the 2010 vintage we have undertaken the totally organic management of the company, the vines and olive trees come then defended with copper and sulfur and the rows processed with green manure and organic fertilization respecting the territory, the environment and those who work there.
Today the production is around 60,000 bottles divided into two product lines, the most representative Doc wine line also numerically speaking and reflecting the Bolgheri tradition, composed of Le Grottine, Ferruggini, Felciaino and Guado de 'Gemoli, and the Lienà line the single variety of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot produced in limited quantities and only in particular vintages. An experiment wanted by Giovanni to discover and understand how the single grapes are able to express themselves in the territory.

- To fully comply with Bolgheri traditions, Giovanni has chosen to place one row of stunning centuries-old olive trees every five rows of vines.
- While building the barrique cellar, the owners decided to preserve the beautiful stones found during the excavations and used them to embellish the environment. On rainy days, it is possible to see the water filtering through the stones, thus maintaining an ideal hydroclimate for wine aging.
- The Chiappini estate offers a beautiful view of the surrounding metalliferous hills, where the forest has remained untouched. The Bolgheri Castle overlooking the territory is a well recognizable landmark.
