The history of Tenuta Mariani

Tenuta Mariani covers about 12 hectares on the hills and around Lake Massaciuccoli, in the municipality of Massarosa, Viareggio and Lucca. The farmhouse of 1791 in Bozzano in the locality of Crocicchio together with the new Massaciuccoli cellars, with the tasting room, are the center of all the activities, agricultural and tourist. The accommodations of the Agriturismo in Bozzano near the Vecchia Vigna di Eraldo and the first cellars see the Massaciuccoli lake in the background, and our new Cellars of Via Pietra a Padule in Massaciuccoli, are used for all the Harvesting, maturation of the wines and tasting.

The production

Over 2300 centenarian olive trees have been put back into production since 2010 and certified organic, in the municipalities of Massarosa and Lucca on the hills of Crocicchio, Santa Lucia, Loglia, Caprile and Selva di Segale for a total of 3.5 hectares. Six are the vineyards from which the grapes for our wines are currently harvested are, the vineyard of Eraldo a Crocicchio Bozzano (merlot), the vineyards in Loc. Caprile a Massaciuccoli (pinot noir, merlot, sangiovese, ciliegiolo, vermentino and chardonnay), the new plants built in recent years in the old vineyards of Loglia (pinot nero) on the hill above Massarosa, the vineyards in Loc. Selva di Segale in S. macarioi (merlot, sangiovese and sirah) and the vineyards of Villa Borbone in Torre del Lake (Sangiovese, Vermentino and Chardonnay). For a total of about 8.5 hectares.

With passion and a great attachment to the family philosophy in respect of nature, for about 5 years the owners together with a team led by the oenologist and agronomist Lamberto Tosi have been working in search of quality. A work that bears fruit: today the estate produces extra virgin olive oils and wines are under the control of the ICEA certification body.
