Experience description
The Giovanni Chiappini company is located in the heart of the Bolgheri doc area, along Via Bolgherese, the wine route hosting the largest wine-growing companies in the area.
This estate has relied on a solid family tradition started by Giovanni, son of farmers from Marche who moved to Bolgheri in the 1950s, and then inherited by his two daughters Martina and Lisa, currently working here alongside their father. Chiappini's work and growth is characterised by their deep relationship with their land.
This tour with basic tasting takes place in the rooms of the new winery featuring a typical Tuscan rural architecture. The experience includes a walk through the vineyards, a visit to the winemaking and refining areas, a tour of the tower from which you can enjoy a stunning view of the entire estate and the Bolgheri Castle.

Curiosities
- To fully comply with Bolgheri traditions, Giovanni has chosen to place one row of stunning centuries-old olive trees every five rows of vines.
- While building the barrique cellar, the owners decided to preserve the beautiful stones found during the excavations and used them to embellish the environment. On rainy days, it is possible to see the water filtering through the stones, thus maintaining an ideal hydroclimate for wine aging.
- The Chiappini estate offers a beautiful view of the surrounding metalliferous hills, where the forest has remained untouched. The Bolgheri Castle overlooking the territory is a well recognizable landmark.
Nearby places to visit
- Castagneto Carducci: named after the great poet Giosuè Carducci. Its castle was built around the year 1000 and is the heart of the village, which offers plenty of history and has strong ties with the Della Gherardesca family. A village full of narrow alleys and natural terraces overlooking the sea and the countryside with a selection of ancient craft shops.
- Bolgheri: In order to reach this village, you will need to walk down one of the most famous and charming avenues in the world, the Viale dei Cipressi. The many churches and the stunning castle which can be found in the town centre are just some of the attractions of this charming place, together with wine bars, taverns and restaurants offering traditional products.
