Experience description
After spending 25 years producing wines in Piedmont, in 2007 La Spinetta opened its third company in Tuscany - specifically in Terricciola, an area suited for viticulture. The new company aimed to show that Sangiovese could express itself to the fullest even in this stunning 65-hectare Tuscan estate located in the heart of the Pisan Hills. The Cru wines, Sezza and Sassontino, are the most prestigious ones produced here. These are both 100% Sangiovese wines made from aged vines and finally become available on the market 10 years after the harvest.
This unforgettable experience will allow you to taste one of these two Cru wines as well as other four red wines, one rosé wine, one white wine and the Moscato d’Asti, produced by one of the La Spinetta companies in Piedmont. The tasting will take place after visiting the evocative facility dug into the hill, from which they obtained the imposing barrique cellar.

Curiosities
- Sezzana and Sassontino, both Sangiovese in purity that are born from older vineyards, available on the market only 10 years after the harvest.
- The splendid terrace overlooks the natural Casanova amphitheater where you can see another beautiful wine cellar of this area: Podere La Chiesa.
- Today the company consists of 4 cellars, three in Piedmont and one in Tuscany. It took 35 years to transform the company from a small manufacturer to one of the largest companies in Italy.
- In this cellar it is also possible to taste a non-Tuscan wine: Moscato, produced in one of the Piedmontese companies.
Nearby places to visit
- Casanova: a village whose earliest records date back to the 12th century, when it was a stronghold that housed a monastery and warred with the other Valdera castles.
- Terricciola: An ancient village of Etruscan origin, as proven by the discovery of settlements in the hamlets of Morrona and Soiana, where there are necropolises dating back to the Hellenistic period with underground chamber tombs. The Belvedere Hypogeum is of particular interest.
